June and July have been busy months for the Kheswas. This is a 'Highlights Package' to bring you all up to speed with some of what's been happening in our corner of the world.
At the beginning of June our youth workers and coaching teams returned to Camp Eden for their second training intensive of this year. It was good to see them and hear what they've been up to during their time in their respective churches. They are currently back in their churches and will return for more training late September and early October.

Six week interns: Molly, Ricardo, Lacy and Stacey |
During their second week with us our year students were joined by 4 short term interns who are spending 6 weeks with us. As a team building exercise we did our own version of The Amazing Race in Heidelberg. The teams were dropped off in the township and had to complete a puzzle before they could proceed by taxi into the town. Once in town they had to find 10 different places in a race to the finish to claim the first prize of pizza for lunch. Thanks David and Liz for allowing us to invade your home.
Africa is a place of tremendous beauty, contrasts, challenges and potential. Another part of the training was a simulated experience we call African Realities, which exposes our trainees to exactly that. This year we had the van Zyls share some of their experiences with realities in Africa. The van Zyls are missionaries with Open Doors, ministering in South Sudan for 15 years and have been back in South Africa for 3 years now. They shared some great and up to date insights about Sudan, Eritrea and the Central African Republic.

Simunye (We are One) Kids Camp was a highlight of this training intensive. Each year our trainees host a camp for orphaned and underprivileged kids from the surrounding areas. This year's camp was one of the best! The kids had a great time as they spent time playing games, doing crafts, singing, dancing and being loved on by the leaders.
Life at Camp Eden is full of ebbs and flows. Come the beginning of July and in flowed 20 or so camp counsellors for Sports Camp - a very exuberant bunch!! Two days later and 60 campers arrived bringing with them all the pent up energy teenagers are known for. And so followed 5 days of non-stop fun, action, sports, games and music. Lots of music. Camp ended with some of the campers being baptised. The water could NOT have been warmer than 2degrees Celsius - eeeeeekk!! We are really grateful to the Lord for what He did during that week and what will continue in and through everyone who was on camp.

FBC Bryan Team and some local mama's |
June - August is summer holidays in the USA and when many of our partner churches are able to visit us. At the moment we have a group of 11 from First Baptist Church Bryan, Texas. They'll be doing a variety of things during their 2 week stay with us. Please do pray that their time here will be meaningful and will help them grow in Loving God and Loving People.
Walkerville and
Finetown GC2 Group
At beginning of June Bhuti had a follow up meeting from our
March training with the Youth Leaders from Walkerville and Finetown, for
encouragement and coaching. Most of them
had met road blocks when it comes to training the second generation. Those
who had successfully trained their youth shared ideas and inspired the others
to try different approaches. We then met on the 12th and 19th
of July to cover the second module: Foundations for a healthy ministry. Over
the next 3 months they will be implementing and transferring the principles.
Additional Prayer Items
- Marketing and Recruiting: That the Lord provides us with quality young people for next year for both the Youth Worker and Coaching Team programmes.
- Open doors to new churches and communities
- Growing our support base
